WICET, WIGGINS ISLAND COAL EXPORT TERMINAL

CLIENT:   WICET

PROJECT:  WIGGINS ISLAND COAL EXPORT TERMINAL WHARF WIDENING

LOCATION: GLADSTONE QUEENSLAND

The project scope entailed the supply and installation of associated structure and installation of concrete support beams in order to widen the wharf between bent 4 and 5 on the newly completed WICET wharf.

The scope includes:

Z

Installation and maintenance of a safe alternative access stairway for all shipping personnel required to access ships for the duration of the project.

Z

Installation of special Layher scaffold system built over water to access the void under the wharf in order to reach each of the girders and other areas required to assist with removal and installation of equipment.

Z

Relocate existing staircase.

Z

Remove and reinstate existing guard rail, kerbing, electrical lights, fire pipe and hydrant.

Z

Fabricate, supply and install stainless steel deck support stools and hold down rods.

Z

100% Encapsulate, Abrasive blast and paint all areas required.

Z

Installation of free issue precast concrete deck units (20 off).

Z

Installation and tensioning of special Macalloy bar tie bars.

Z

Grouting of all concrete components.

Z

Commissioning of both electrical and piping works.

All work was required to be undertaken whilst the Shiploader was operational and could in no way impede operations.

Xtreme Engineering elected to transport the concrete deck units out to the work area (1.5km off shore) using a self-propelled motorised trailer. This mitigated delays to schedule and ensured there were no delays to shipping.

This project was completed ahead of time under budget and with zero incidents.
